A FERAL CAT'S TALE

I remember the day you brought me home, how cute and cuddly was I?
You vowed we'd always be together and of the wonderful life you'd provide.
I was playful, trusting and delighted in your games.
But, all too soon.......................that dreadful day came.
The day"circumstances beyond your control" forced you to set me free.
You just opened the door, you just let me be.
I stayed loyal, keeping my promise, you not keeping yours.
I sat there for days........taking turns at each door.
I never heard footsteps, nor hear you call out my name.
From that point on, my young life had changed.
Left to fend for myself, hunger and thirst made me weary and weak.
Wounds slow to heal, elements to face, litter after litter, my future was bleak.
I have long forgotten you and what it was like having a home.
Out in the wilderness is where I now roam.
Days, turned into months and months to years.
Everyday I lived,I lived it in fear.
In my strife I could no longer resist, the food you lay in your trap.
God Bless those wanting to take hold the fate of a feral cat.
You may have saved me, but please respect what I've become.
Memories of my struggles and hardships are not easily undone. So please be patient, please be kind,for I am not to blame.
The hardened heart of a Feral, is not an easy one to tame.
I pray you'll keep me from hunger and thirst and shelter me from wind and cold.
And Please, Oh Please, find me one safe place where I can grow old.
I am sorry, for I probably never rubbed against your leg, or purred upon your lap.
Just know that I am forever grateful to you for changing the life of this Feral Cat. Deb Bell
